Charitable Work

Since at  least 1970 when I contributed to the Yale Daily News a feature article exposing conditions in Connecticut correctional facilities, I have felt concern for those who have spent time behind bars.  While attending Columbia Law School, I provided pro bono legal services through Harlem Assertion of Rights.  Today, many men and women are no less in need of assistance than others were decades ago. Proceeds from the sale of Vince's art are donated to The Doe Fund and Emerge.

The Doe Fund, based in New York City, pursues a mission to "break the cycles of poverty, homelessness, and recidivism through economic opportunity, housing, and comprehensive supporting services" for formerly incarcerated men seeking to rebuild their lives.

Emerge in New Haven is a "self-sufficient social enterprise committed to assisting formerly incarcerated people successfully integrate back into their families and communities."

Each organization is worthy of our generous support.
